Lynsey Sharp: Rio 800m finalist in winning form
AFTER watching her favourite football team, Rangers, get stuffed 5-1 in the Old Firm match against Celtic, Lynsey Sharp’s mood improved when she blasted to victory over the unusual distance of 500m on the Quayside.
As in the men’s 500m won by David Rudisha, the dominance of the 800m runners over the 400m sprinters was again in evidence as the middle-distance runner ran 66.62 to beat fellow 800m runner Shelayna Oskan-Clarke and Olympic 4x400m medallist Anyika Onuora finished third, followed by UK indoor 800m champion Adelle Tracey, sprinter Laviai Nielsen and 400m runner Seren Bundy-Davies.
