CHRISTOPH HARTING’S feat of succeeding his brother, Robert, as Olympic discus champion is one of the stories of the 2016 Games. But the 25-year-old was something of a reluctant champion as he offered abrupt answers to the media after his victory.
Naturally, the German was delighted to keep the gold medal in his family. Yet his inner circle of family and friends were also the only people he wanted to share his delight and satisfaction with.
“There are different kinds of personalities,” he explained, “extroverted people who pay attention to how they are looked at and how they are perceived and there are introverted people like myself. And I just feel out of place right now.
