DOUBLE European gold medallist Aled Davies says his record-breaking form in Grosseto came as a shock to him last week.
The 25-year-old Welshman defended his IPC European shot put and discus titles in Italy, setting a championship record of 16.11m in the former before breaking his world record in the latter by five metres with 54.14m.
Davies, the double world champion from Doha last year, is favourite to claim Paralympic golds in both in Rio, four years after winning the discus in London and finishing third in the shot.
