Gay men have lived on the fringes of society for hundreds of years. Due to the West’s steady march towards greater equality, some of us have integrated into mainstream society by getting married, adopting kids or having their biological own.
Some might call it conforming, while those “conforming” would argue that the idea of two men creating their own family unit against society’s norms is itself a revolutionary act that would have been unheard of 50 years ago. Other gay men prefer to be more liberated from the constraints that family life can bring, redefining their relationships according to their own rules and not the standard monogamous or parent/child model.
