As EVs in so many parts of the new car market finally begin to look that bit more reasonably priced compared with their ICE counterparts, the ones that don’t suddenly become more and more likely to be singled out and shot at.
That, for various reasons, and not all of them entirely fair, is the position in which the new Porsche Macan Electric finds itself. The UK is the only European country in which it’s being sold alongside the old ICE Macan, which is likely to make for some problematic (if simplistic) comparisons, when the EV costs a little over £12,000 more.
Compared with the new Audi Q6 E-tron, meanwhile (to which it’s closely technically related), the Macan Electric is a little over £7000 more expensive – although, if you compare as closely as possible on battery capacity and motor power, the gap is more like £4000.
