Yes, folks… it’s another of our immensely popular OTBT magazine specials this month, and just as you would expect, we’ve got some super special articles on the unknown to share with you again. Firstly I must thank all the guys who have stepped up to the plate again this month, giving us all their hard-eared secrets and showing us the pictures of their highly prized catches – thanks very much. There are a lot of people out there doing a little guesting here and there, and to be honest most do not want to divulge their secret captures. I can see why, but actually if everyone took that attitude then there would never be anything written about carp fishing, and all the great books and magazines there have been would never exist.
Imagine throughout history if Dick Walker had decided to keep his captures secret… or Kevin Maddocks, Hutchy, Hearn or Lane… or even me! What sort of carp fishing would we have today if everyone kept quiet about their catches? Big Carp is the place for this type of article, and I promise that anyone generous to share their experiences will be treated with the utmost respect. If you have a story to tell please have a think about sending it in – thanks.
This month we have some incredible ‘urban’ pieces. Daniel Scranage provides some unusual backdrops to his catches at the Salford Quays. There’s a fantastic insight into London city angling from Matthew Pease and Alex Wright. Simon Bates tells us about his angling exploits on the Soho Loop Canal network. Big Carp regular Mitch Godfrey has not one but two contributions this month: a huge uncaught common from a spot of undercover carping on a no-go stillwater and part three of his Tales From The Trent series where things are not going according to plan! Sticking with the river theme, Neil Beesley’s Itchen campaign gives us our first insight into his river angling, whilst Lucky Scott Rowson catches a huge unknown fish and tells us all about it.
