CalMac cancellations and delays ‘cannot be allowed to continue, let alone happen again’, according to Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell.
Difficulties with two CalMac vessels which serve Arran have resulted in major disruptions to the services for Islay and Colonsay, indicating potential weaknesses in operations and management that need to be addressed, he said.
Mr Russell and fellow MSP Kenny Gibson (Arran) have now requested a meeting with the relevant ministers in the Scottish Government, including representatives of the ferry committees on Islay and Arran, to raise awareness of Difficulties and make ‘concrete suggestions’ for the future.
