Boy George is ready to take on Simon Cowell by launching his own record label. The Culture Club singer recently became a judge on The Voice UK, and he’s determined to find a bonafide star. “That’s the idea,” George confirms. “This is the first time I’ve done it so I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I’ve got 12 really good singers on my team – I’ve got a couple of guys and it’s, ‘Oh my God, these are great’.
“I haven’t started the label yet but it’s something I want to do – manage other people, work with other people.” George has never been afraid to speak his mind, so expect sparks to fly come January when The Voice airs on BBC1: “You’ll be seeing all the sides of me,” the singer promises. “The Voice isn’t about just criticising people, it’s about telling people the truth. These shows tell really young people that they can walk on water. They give them the wrong advice.”
