Their cinematic Shadow Morton productions Leader Of The Pack and Remember (Walking In The Sand), veered wildly from fun to tear-soaked heartbreak. Underneath the tough-talking, gum-chewing Queens exterior, singer Mary Weiss said there was “a lot of pain inside of me”. The soundtrack of Harry’s youth mirrored her own contradictions. These would be stitched deep into Blondie’s fabric. Not only did they cover The Shangri-Las, they’re referenced constantly.
