While the decade may not have been particularly busy for the world in general, with no thanks to a pandemic, Paul McCartney found himself abandoning a world tour, postponing his Glastonbury slot and suddenly with a lot of time on his hands, which he put to good use to create the third of his self-titled McCartney albums. That and no end of Beatles and book commitments, too.
As 2020 arrived and Covid wreaked havoc with the world and put paid to anyone doing anything, unable to tour, McCartney retreated to Hog Hill Mill in Sussex and began twiddling his thumbs before embarking on recording another album.
Released in December, McCartney III had been teased by a variety of cryptic social media interactions such as a series of daily posts unveiling the titles of each of the 11 new tracks from his new album through murals painted in different cities all over the world. As with those previous albums, McCartney performed all the instruments himself.
