Does anyone Objekt?
Launched last month, came Reason’s ultra-cool modelling synth Objekt. This forward-thinking physical modelling synth allows you to resonate virtual versions of real-world sound sources (bells, drums, strings etc) before harnessing an internal ‘Exciter’ that interacts with the sound sources in a range of ways. You can then shape the resulting tones using the deep set of controls within the UI. This could be a fascinating route into developing wholly individual and unique softsynth sounds, modelling real world objects (do you get ‘Objekt’ now?) and using them as the basis for a personalised instrument. Alongside 500 patches, there’s also a randomiser that places you in entirely uncharted territory. Objekt requires Reason 10.1 and is either available for £71 as a standalone rack extension, or for free if you have a Reason+ subscription.
