Newfangled’s new plugin polysynth, Generate, is all about randomness. Five ‘Chaotic Generator’ oscillator types go by the enticing names ‘Double Pendulum’, ‘Vortex’, ‘Pulsar’, ‘Discharge’ and ‘Turbine’, each presenting its own take on chaotic audio signal creation, and feed into one of three Wavefolders (Buchla, Animated and Fractal), each one “adding unique overtones”. There’s also a Buchla-style Low Pass Gate with adjustable Poles and Resonance parameters, and five effects: EQ, Reverb, Delay, Chorus and Limiter. Every parameter of the Chaotic Generator, Wavefolder and Low Pass Gate modules is open to modulation by a range of sources, including two envelopes, two LFOs, a randomiser and an eight-step sequencer. MPE support is also baked in for those with the right controllers to take advantage of it.
