Everyone expects Lucy to marry Martin, her childhood best friend, and follow the conventional path of marriage and motherhood. But none of this appeals to her. Lucy begins to understand herself one hot summer when she falls for her friend Susannah. Lucy’s double life ensues. But she will eventually have to choose. Two potential futures lay out before her. Both spark fear in her. Neither are easy. But one would make her heart happy. This is ideal reading for the last month of summer.
