As the cold chill of winter creeps in we’d all love to be stepping up to the counter at the inviting hot chocolate bar featured on our cover this issue.
You might follow that with a sleigh ride across the crisp snow of this winter wonderland or maybe, as the ice skates hint, take a turn at gliding across the frozen lake.
This magical scene was created by the talented Robina Patterson, who drew on her idyllic childhood memories for inspiration. She told us: “I grew up with long cold winters, and staying inside for months gets boring fast, so out we went.”
Memories feature heavily in Danielle McGurran’s painter’s studio too. She created the scene as a tribute to her mother, one of the very few female sign painters working in the 1970s and 80s.
Aida Pravia’s mother painted landscapes, skies and tigers — often on the walls of the family house. Her talent has been passed on to Avia who creates stunning miniature furniture before adorning them with exquisite paintings.
Also in this issue Chris Marlow tells us how she used high tech methods to replicate a special vintage kitchen in twelfth scale. That’s beyond most of us, but at the other end of the scale we show you how to recycle cardboard in the most perfect way — by creating a house. Great fun! We’re packed with inspiring projects too, from pretty little handbags to frames for your mini pictures.
