God Of War: Ragnarök’s use of present-day dialects and registers doesn’t always pay dividends – Freyr, for instance, the Norse god of peace, pleasure and virility, comes off as a somewhat bratty stoner. We greatly enjoyed Richard Schiff’s Odin, however – he’s not the bellowing bearded monolith you might expect, but rather a chummy arch-manipulator on holiday from The Sopranos, who happens to know all his underlings by name.
