On the pipe.
Hi, Fast Bikers! I’m looking forward to my monthly column and getting the 2019 British Superbike season rolling. I have to go to BSB to win the championship; I don’t have a choice, to be honest. No one is expecting anything less and yes, it is pressure, but I thrive off it and I’ve now got a machine and a team that can do it. It’s not like trying to do something on a bike that doesn’t work. That’s a pressure you can’t take in a positive from.
Of course, it’s going to be hard and I know it’s not a walk in the park, but my preparation has been good. I’ve just done a two-year deal with Birdie and I’ve done my years of trying to make an average bike do unbelievable shit. In fact, most of my career’s been like that! I put so much hard work in and it’s so disheartening, so I’m buzzing to work with Paul Bird, who helped me out with minimotos in the early days. We’ve known each other a long time, but when the deal was coming about first, I wasn’t sure about it. I would have liked to have gone to WSBK with a good bike and shown some potential there, but nothing came about.
