The October issue features Rob Stoakley’s Alan Peters’ inspired Japanese floor lamp as our main project this month, but we also have a wide range of technique articles on offer, including David Charlesworth on Magswitch MagJigs; Derek Jones looks at sharpening planer/thicknesser knives; Charles Mak and Chris Wong handle a number of grain challenges and we have part 2 of Michael Huntley’s series on restoring a ‘swing’ mirror back to its former glory.
In our design & inspiration section, we have the first in a new series of articles on ‘tools for design’; we bring you the shortlist of entries in the furniture categories for the Wood Awards 2013; we spend 20 minutes talking to hand tool enthusiast and author Christopher Schwartz; Michael Huntley pays a trip to Bridgwater College, and we bring you the first in a new series of lots to recently go under the hammer, in terms of antique tools and pieces of furniture.
