The best ball strikers in the world know exactly how far every iron shot will go. No matter what the conditions or what club they are holding, the consistency of the strike enables them to get the ball to finish pin high and that takes a huge amount of pressure off your game. One thing all good ball strikers have in common is they deliver the club back to the ball consistently, so they have good impact positions. There are a few varying opinions but I think you want to feel that most of your weight at impact is on your left side, the shaft has returned on the correct path, a square path and you have a square clubface. Also, you want your hips to be quite open at impact, this shows that your body is rotating well through the ball. Finally, a lot of people would say that your right elbow should be slightly tucked under, so it’s not outside the clubhead as you make contact.
