When it comes to our waistlines, walking and taking more aerobic exercise are crucial to protect ourselves from becoming overweight. In contrast, sugary drinks and greater screen time are most likely to leave us piling on the pounds, according to a report from the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF). There’s now evidence that 12 cancers are linked to having a greater amount of body fat, including cancer of the breast (postmenopausal), ovaries, endometrium, bowel, stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, mouth, oesophagus, kidney and prostate. So check out the WCRF’s list of lifestyle habits that increase and decrease the risk of weight gain and being overweight or obese. Then work towards achieving more of those that help you stay a healthy weight.
