Balancing your entire body on only your hands carries impressive benefits. It’s a strength-training exercise, so it’s good for both muscle mass and bone density, it strengthens your shoulders, arms, abdominal and gluteal muscles, it will help your balance (good for general fitness), plus it’s great for mood – when we accomplish something, we feel good.
‘Practise daily to build up to handstands and, if you lack shoulder or core strength, incorporate specific yoga moves (see below) into your weekly regime before you start,’ says yoga instructor Hailey Jean Flee. ‘But with dedication and a pinch of bravery, you’ll perform handstands in no time.’
