A Georgie answers: Many horses out at grass develop parotiditis, or grass glands, throughout the spring and summer months. This condition involves swelling of the parotid salivary glands, which sit just below the ear and behind the angle of the jaw. Although this doesn’t cause any problems for the horse, it can be concerning to see.
