M ost of us aren’t old enough to remember the day the first astronaut set foot on the Moon, though this human achievement has become the stuff of legend for us all. In over 50 years of space missions since, nothing has captured the zeitgeist in the same way that Armstrong and Aldrin’s moonwalk did. It’s quite something to think that in 2024, astronauts could return to the lunar surface, this time paving the way for a possible mission to Mars and breaking new ground with the first woman on the Moon. This issue we’ve explored the Artemis program’s goals, its impressive new technology and we’ve spoken to a NASA astronaut about what it’s like to be so far from Earth. Enjoy!
