Allan Bryce and James Whittington on your favourite TV shows and movie franchises…

MORE MONSTROUS TITANS ON THE WAY

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is an upcoming American monster film directed by Adam Wingard. Produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the seventh instalment and fifth film in the MonsterVerse. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise, the 13th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla film to be completely produced by an American film studio.

The film, which was scheduled to be theatrically released in March but has now moved to the new date of April 12, 2024, stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film.

In the film, Godzilla and Kong must work together against an undiscovered threat that threatens the Hollow Earth and the surface.

Early reports suggest that Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will see the return of another iconic Titan, namely Titanus Mosura aka Mothra. That’s if a recent GxK toy packaging reveal is anything to go by! So far, the advanced release of Godzilla x Kong toys have revealed a lot about the film’s plot and new Monsters, so it’s a safe bet to assume this confirms Mothra will play a role and have some screen time in the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel!

Mothra was last seen in 2019 during the events where she sacrificed herself to save Godzilla from his battle with Ghidorah.

BBFC SCUPPER UK ABYSS RELEASE

The Abyss is a 1989 US adventure film by James Cameron, and it’s a movie that many fans have been waiting to see in 4K UHD.

As I’m sure most readers already know, this underwater sci-fi epic tells the story of formerly married petroleum engineers Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, who still have some issues to work out. They are drafted to assist a gung-ho Navy SEAL (Michael Biehn) with a top-secret recovery operation: a nuclear sub has been ambushed and sunk, under mysterious circumstances, in some of the deepest waters on Earth.
