ELECTRIC THEMES

''One theme of 2024 was Confidential Compute, with Intel, AMD and Arm all pushing hard to get patches upstream. Intel’s TDX (Trusted Domain eXtensions) and AMD’s SEV (Secure Encrypted Virtualisation) came along the furthest early on, while Arm did get guest support upstream and is working on the host side enablement. It’s still early days as far as hardware support goes, but the promise of CoCo is quite appealing to a number of enterprise users who want to run code in far-flung places. Example use cases cited include having ML models with weights that are encrypted and never visible to a host operator.
