Emmabuntüs 4-1
David Rutland finds that the latest stable distro release is a little lacking in the “zig-a-zig-ah” department. Maybe it was lost in translation…
IN BRIEF
Emmabuntüs is a Debianderived desktop distro from France, with features aimed at newcomers to Linux (who are also from France). Developers have made some interesting, although not necessarily wise, choices with installed packages and defaults. Emmabuntüs could be a daily driver for new Linux users who don’t mind the odd translation error or stumbling into a Francophone charity appeal.
Based, on Debian, and with the lightweight Xfce and LXQt desktop environments available, Emmabuntüs is a lightweight distro designed with older machines in mind. It’s one of only a few distros with an up-to-date edition for 32-bit machines, but there’s no ARM version available. The current stable version is Emmabuntüs Debian Edition 4 1.02, although if you’re willing to take a chance, an unstable version of Edition 5 is available for testing. It is also targeted at Linux beginners and migrants from other operating systems.
