I spent three months in India working on charity projects with Deaf Child Worldwide and Stories for Good, spending my days meeting and photographing charity participants in villages around Bodhgaya. After a long day’s work, I had just stuffed my face with tandoori chicken in my favourite restaurant, my camera irmly at the back of my mind, and decided to wander the city’s alleyways. They’re incredibly atmospheric, with their brightly painted homes and local life spilling out everywhere. This man looked so peaceful sitting in silence outside his restaurant, with the mayhem of the town all around him. The scene grabbed me so much I had to get my camera out one last time. I loved the photo the moment I took it – it takes me right back to the alleyways of Bodhgaya, and brings back strong memories of the best tandoori chicken I’ve ever had!
