Chord Electronics has added a new flagship amplifier to itsaward-winning range. Paul Rigby draws attention to the company’s first completely new design in three decades
Thirty years ago, Chord Electronics found its first ever customer for a brandnew type of amplifier design, the BBC. The company kitted out an outside broadcast unit for the Beeb, which delivered huge amounts of power, very quickly. Soon after, they began to supply a number of recording studios around the world with its proprietary amp technology. A range of consumer amplifiers soon followed and today, the Maidstone company exports all over the world, enjoying an international reputation for this British-built, high-power amps. The Ultima is the company’s new flagship amplifier.
