Stop a folder from being deleted in error
Trying to delete a locked folder containing a write-only folder generates warnings, but won’t stop you.
Q Istore sensitive documents in a folder with privileges set for write only access, as a drop box. Why then could I almost delete it by mistake? How should I protect it?

A Thisis a common misunderstanding that often gives rise to problems and accidents. If you want to prevent a folder from being deleted using permissions, you have to change the permissions on the folder containing that folder, rather than the folder itself. This is because a folder or directory is essentially a list of its contents. If permissions allow you to change the contents of that folder, as here by adding new files to it, then they also allow you to delete the folder.
