SAY I’M YOUR NUMBER ONE…
Unboxing a new Hornby Class 60 recently, of a smart rendition of 60001 Steadfast, it occurred to me how rare it is to see similarly numbered diesel and electric locomotives in miniature.
A search through my ‘OO’ models revealed not one TOPS (Total Operations System) number ending in ‘001’, either on out-of-the-box models or those I’ve customised – even among post-privatisation designs. I do have models of pioneer Modernisation Plan diesels, however, namely Class 20 D8000, ‘Clayton’ D8500 and Class 40 D200.
