M odeltrains are more detailed – and arguably more accurate – than ever before. ‘Museum quality’ features of yesteryear – such as sprung buffers, photo‐etched detail parts or separate nameplates – are now commonplace. But is there a limit to what is achievable, or even desirable? Deciding to produce a new model is always exciting. Every now and then my Revolution co-director Mike Hale and I sit down and (invariably over a few drinks) we look at the medium and long-lists of prototypes that we think have potential to become models.
