More homes in Argyll are set to receive superfast broadband after the Scottish Government announced it would bring higher internet speeds to 25,000 more properties across Scotland. Residents of both Kilchenzie and Kilninver are set to receive fibre broadband coverage after it was announced last week that the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband (DSSB) project was ahead of schedule and is now set to reach 150,000 Scottish homes and businesses by next year.
The government has also committed to bringing superfast broadband – which means a connection with download speeds of 24Mb or more – to every home in Scotland by 2021 under its programme Reaching 100 per cent (R100). Argyll and Bute MP Brendan O’Haraftsaid: ‘This is excellent news for the region and I am delighted to hear that the DSSB project has passed its original targets and is providing opportunities for businesses and communities across the constituency.’
