A NEW one-way system for Oban ferry pier is to be trialled.
Ferry operator CalMac and port owner Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd are to test a one-way traffic system at the terminal. The four-week trial, which starts on Monday October 3, aims to improve safety for pedestrians and to ease congestion on the pier.
Alasdair Henderson, from CalMac, said safety on the pier needs to be the priority and the number of pedestrian and vehicle incidents at present is unacceptable. He added that the new system should simplify traffic flows and make management of movement on the pier easier for everyone.
