Their story began at a pub session in Ross-shire 27 years ago, when Kirkhill fiddler Duncan Chisholm met vocalist and acoustic guitarist Stuart Eaglesham from Evanton, and created a band named after the Pictish ‘wolfstone’ unearthed nearby at Ardross.
The original six-strong line-up toured highland and island village halls, including Oban’s Corran Halls and Argyll Gathering Halls, and achieved mainstream success in the 1990s, when they recruited piper Stevie Saint.
‘We’ve got great memories of those gigs, and Oban Live is taking it a step further,’ Duncan told the Oban Times. ‘We haven’t played in Oban for at least 10 years, and we’re relishing coming back. We’re at our happiest in outdoor festivals, whether in Denmark, Spain or America. This is a chance to do what you do best, in front of a home crowd. This is such a musical town - there’s a wealth of talent here.’
