The months preceding the main summer open water swimming season are the perfect time to look at your technique and implement changes that will make you both faster and less prone to injury. Last month I attended a one-onone session with Total Immersion coach James Ewart, the first in a series of six sessions. My swimming had been stymied by a niggling shoulder injury that was preventing me from training; with a full race card of summer swims already booked I was desperate to get back in the water. Using underwater video analysis James was able to identify flaws in my stroke that could be contributing to my shoulder problems.
