WORLDWIDE THERE are constantly new fish discoveries, but those made in West or Central Africa are rare. In 2015, German aquarist Roland Numrich travelled through the Congo (Brazzaville) where he was looking for new Alestopertersius tetra species. During that trip he was fishing in the catchment of the Likouala river (a direct tributary of the Congo River), and in a small stream called Alima (but it is also present in Mambili) where he found the magnificent new species you see on the opposite page.
