It’s been a challenging few years for those idiosyncratic Icelanders Sigur Rós. Drummer Orri Páll Dýrason left after allegations of sexual assault and then the band were charged with tax evasion (the case was dismissed a year ago). Such matters sit uneasily with the perceived image of them as otherworldly creatures inhabiting a dreamscape of gorgeous sounds and imaginings. It’s odd, too, to think that in their 26 years of existence, they’ve gone from left-fiel obscurities to global success and gold discs, collaborations with Radiohead, and their music being used in World Cup coverage and Game Of Thrones.
