“I got into metal through all the metal gods people know, and prog-wise Dream Theater was the first and biggest influence. John Petrucci’s the reason Trivium started using seven-string guitars. Our albums The Crusade [2006] and Shogun [2008] were very prog moments for us, and we’ve had that in us ever since. I’ve always really appreciated versatile instrumentalism.
