Regardless of how many ‘classic’ members remain, Yes deserve praise for keeping on after more than half a century.
They’re likely the longest-standing progressive rock group still active both onstage and in the studio, and as their nearly two-hour set tonight proves, they remain masters of their craft.
It’s not a perfect evening, but it’s certainly a satisfying one, and it undoubtedly validates them as an act still well worth seeing.
Prior to Yes’ performance, celebrated artist Roger Dean – who’s worked with the band on/off since 1971’s Fragile and contributed to this year’s Mirror To The Sky – gives a 30-minute overview of his artistic beginnings and accomplishments. Despite his humble tone, appealing insights and early illustrations, his presentation isn’t as well-received as it should be and before long, several intolerant concertgoers rudely heckle him and demand that Yes finally come out on stage.
