■ THE article on centralised door locking (February, p18) mentioned a list of heritage rolling stock owners with CDL exemptions in place, one of the named companies being Hastings Diesels Ltd. I would like to point out that these comments are inaccurate in relation to Hastings Diesels Ltd. We completed the fitment of centralised door locking to our rolling stock by 2008, and have operated tour and charter trains on the national network using CDL since June of that year.
Francis Wallace, Hastings Diesels Ltd
■THE photograph at the top of page 91 of the March issue does not show the site of the former Hawthorn Colliery (or‘Combine’), which was some 2.5 miles away over the photographer’s left shoulder. The buildings on the skyline to the east of the railway are on the site of the former Dawdon Colliery, which was close to Seaham Harbour, the piers of which can be seen further to the right in the image.

■KEADBY sliding bridge (March, p8) crosses over the Stainforth &Keadby canal, not the River Trent as stated, which the railway crosses about a mile to the east.
