When the foundation row is made it’s time to work the interlocking stitches into the front and back of the fabric – rest assured, it’s easier than it might look!
Place the light yarn working loop on the hook, ready to work Row 1a. Try not to tangle the yarns, and position the dark yarn at the back (this is where the already-worked starting chains will help). First, you’ll work an interlocking back stitch – this is just a treble worked into the next treble of the light yarn, but in order to create the interlocking effect, you need to work the treble behind the dark yarn. It’s easier than it sounds.
