We were adamant that we didn’t want our birthday issue to become a retrospective look at the past without also acknowledging the present and the future. That’s why we have this special issue in two parts. It’s also why there isn’t a front and back to this issue – two front covers is what you get. As the resident early adopter of all things ‘tech’, I’ve been tasked with writing this introductory editorial to the future-looking half of the issue. I salute all the early adopters of technology as it is their – often expensive – path to the future that serves to iron out the glitches and bugs so that the more normal among you can benefit from sensibly stepping back to allow new ideas to mature enough to be actually useful.
