Smartphone camera pixel counts have hit stratospheric figures recently, but that usually means a lofty price to match. At about £2.25 per megapixel, though, Redmi’s Note 12 Pro+ offers a 200MP main camera at a price that won’t make your credit card run away from home. Include the 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 16MP selfie cameras as well and it actually drops to under £2, with phase-detect autofocus and optical image stabilisation thrown in for free. In comparison, Samsung’s 200MP Galaxy S23 Ultra (tested on p36) is at least £6.25 per megapixel.
