ZOOMIN’ TOUCH
Apple iPhone 16 Pro
When Apple removed the home button on the iPhone X it seemed the days of physical controls were numbered, doomed to the same fate as the headphone port (RIP). But here we are, seven years later, and the iPhone 16 Pro has arrived with a whole new button.
Positioned on the right flank, the camera control button does much more than just release the shutter: taps and swipes can be used to zoom in and out, change modes and adjust settings such as exposure and depth of field. Having snapped your pics, iOS 18’s new Apple Intelligence also brings Pixel-style AI trickery, so you can get rid of photobombers with a few taps.
It’s powered by a new A18 Pro chipset that brings a 16-core neural engine, 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU to the party, but Apple has managed to squeeze in more battery capacity so stamina has actually increased by 17% to 27hrs of video playback. The 6.3in Super Retina XDR screen is also tougher and slightly larger than that of the 15 Pro, but thinner bezels mean that, despite its growth spurt, the titanium frame is only a smidge less pocket-friendly than last year’s model.
