In this portrait,I followed a similar process to my demonstration portrait over the page, beginning with light washes of the skin tone and hair using a size 3 squirrel mop brush. When this was dry, I built the shadows and depth of the face, using stronger mixes of colour, employing careful control of wet into wet and keeping a constant eye of the dampness of the painting. The portrait was finished with glazes of yellow ochre in the hair to soften it, then scrubbing with a hog brush and kitchen paper to reveal the light
