PREMIERE of the MONTH
BURIED TREASURE: Janusz Wawrowski gave the world premiere of Ludomir Różycki’s Violin Concerto, 75 years after it was written, on 13 December 2019, with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under Norbert Twórczyński. The Polish composer had buried the manuscript in his garden in Warsaw, before fleeing the city in 1944. Wawrowski discovered the orchestral score, along with a piano arrangement, in the Polish archives and reassembled the concerto himself. He has also made a recording, due out this year, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Photo: Cezary Aszkiełowicz
