We all know cars are getting steadily bigger – if we’ve got our sums correct, the latest Skoda Fabia is now the same size as a 2003 Rolls Phantom – but smaller models have also become more sophisticated. The third-gen Fabia is delightfully grown-up, with big car features like the panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, LED ambient lighting and adaptive cruise control.
That’s before we get started on the ‘simply clever’ features Skoda prides itself on – 42 of them, apparently. All quite desirable in a specific middle-aged sort of way –a little net under the parcel shelf for stuffing your coat in, or of course the brolly in the driver’s door.
