The real-life theft of Charlie Chaplin’s corpse in 1978 is the springboard for this uneven comedy about two British con men (played by siblings Simon and Doug Philips) in Las Vegas who, in a bid to keep the loan sharks at bay, hold the silent icon’s remains to ransom. Nobody seems the slightest bit fazed that Chaplin is actually buried in Switzerland, but this factual oversight is far from the film’s only problem. Fans of Guy Ritchie’s caper-coms might find some amusement here, but others will struggle with the meandering plot, stiff performances and crass tone.
