I have always enjoyed making things. Today, I earn my bread and butter by creating lights from various antelope horns. They are finished in a variety of ways, including antique brass and nickel. The horns are ethically sourced from reserves in South Africa where animal numbers need to be controlled.
Wildlife management is imperative in South Africa, where much of the land is privately owned and ring-fenced. If the soil is overgrazed, there is little growth, which is detrimental to the whole ecosystem, so culling is crucial. Whereas meat is never wasted, horns often are, which is where BOSCO London comes in: my aim is to create beautiful objects using these natural by-products, to eliminate waste and to create something unique.
