When Karl Marx put forward the theory that history repeats itself first as tragedy, second as farce, he failed to consider what happens when something is pretty farcical in the first instance. Daniel Jarvis, perhaps less likely to go down as one of the great thinkers of his time than the highly rated philosopher, put on his own experiment this month, pitch-invading three times in successive England-India Tests, each time dressed in full India kit, and each time less well-received than the last, sort of like The Hangover trilogy.
