Hands up if you’ve ever felt like Bambi on ice when venturing out for a run wearing the wrong trainers on a wet and slippery morning. I’ve seen plenty of amateur athletes – both road and trail enthusiasts – get ill and/or sustain injuries due to wearing kit that doesn’t suit the conditions they are running in.
Due to the location of trails, it’s much harder to bail if you’re caught in the wrong kit. It’s just not easy to hail a cab or jump on a bus in the middle of the woods! This means you need the right gear, but what does that mean? Let’s start with the must-haves and we can move to the nice-to-haves later…
